The difference between Paid and Unpaid Funds Requests
When to use each type and how they work
With Agri Buyer Financing, you can submit a Funds Request for either a paid invoice or an unpaid invoice. The two work in slightly different ways.
If the invoice is already paid
If you have already paid your supplier the full invoice amount, you can still get financing back from Avenews. This is called a reimbursement Funds Request.
You upload the supplier invoice, the delivery note, and proof of payment
Once approved, Avenews sends up to 85% of the invoice value back to your business account
You repay Avenews at the end of the financing period
Worked example for a paid invoice
Say you paid your supplier KES 500,000 from your own funds. You submit a Funds Request to Avenews. We approve and send KES 425,000 back to your business account, which is 85% of KES 500,000. You repay Avenews KES 425,000 plus markup at the end of the period.
If the invoice is not yet paid
If you have not paid your supplier yet, you can ask Avenews to pay them on your behalf. The supplier gets the financed portion from Avenews, and you cover the rest yourself.
You upload the supplier invoice and the delivery note
After your Funds Request is approved, you pay the unfinanced part directly to the supplier and upload proof of payment
Once we have your proof of payment, Avenews sends the financed part directly to the supplier
You repay Avenews at the end of the financing period
Worked example for an unpaid invoice
Say you have a supplier invoice for KES 500,000. You submit a Funds Request for KES 425,000, which is 85%. After approval, you pay your supplier the remaining KES 75,000 and upload the proof of payment. Avenews then sends the supplier KES 425,000. The supplier has now received the full KES 500,000. You repay Avenews KES 425,000 plus markup at the end of the period.
Which one should you use?
Use a paid Funds Request when you have already paid the supplier and want to recover most of that cash
Use an unpaid Funds Request when you have not yet paid and want Avenews to handle most of the supplier payment
