Last week in Mwea, Avenews signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mazao na Afya Ltd , a leading agro-input distributor in Kenya with over 27 years of experience and a footprint spanning 7 regions, serving more than 5,000 agri-SMEs. The agreement also ties into Agitech, Mazao’s innovation arm and the team behind the highly anticipated Agitech Grand Expo, expected to host 10,000+ participants from across the agri-value chain

This partnership marks a new chapter in how we support agrodealers, agri-suppliers, and traders across the country. By joining forces with Mazao, we’re aligning efforts to deliver financial access, digital innovation, and practical support to the people who keep Kenya’s agricultural supply chain running.

A Partnership Built for Trade Impact

This partnership speaks directly to the day-to-day trade challenges these businesses face,  from unpredictable market demand and seasonal price shifts, to changing government policies that impact how and when they move product.

Together with Mazao, we are building solutions that help agri-suppliers respond faster, trade smarter, and grow stronger.

“Agrodealers are the backbone of agri-trade in Kenya. This partnership with Mazao gives us the chance to show up where it matters, with financial tools, trusted support, and meaningful collaboration.” Jonathan Tseelon, CEO, Avenews

The MoU was signed in the presence of  key representatives from both teams present:

  • Peter Karanja, CEO, Mazao na Afya Ltd

  • Jonathan Tseelon, CEO, Avenews

  • Betty Mulemia, Field Marketing & Partnerships Manager

  • Alex Nyawira, General Manager, AgriPrice Centre Ltd

  • Sam Maguchia Moya, Head of Marketing

  • Caroline Gathaku, Executive Advisor, Agitech Grand Expo

Their presence underscored the shared commitment to work with the agri-businesses that keep Kenya’s agri-economy moving.

What’s Next? The Agitech Grand Expo

With the Agitech Grand Expo around the corner, this partnership comes at the perfect time. Together, Avenews and Mazao will collaborate to:

  • Create more touchpoints with agrodealers in rural and peri-urban areas

  • Offer digital financial tools that work with how agri-businesses operate on the ground

  • Open access to training, partnerships, and trade growth opportunities

Hii ni hatua ya kuweka biashara za agri-trade mbele zaidi.
