At Avenews, we know one thing for sure: when an agrodealer is ready to trade, capital should never be the reason they can’t.
That’s exactly why we’ve created Stockist Financing, a new way for stockists to restock instantly without paying cash up front. And this month, we had the pleasure of kicking things off in Mwea, in partnership with Mazao na Afya Ltd, to pilot the product with their network.
The event brought together agrodealers, stockists, and leaders from both Avenews and Mazao na Afya. It wasn’t just a launch, it was a conversation about challenges in the supply chain and how we can solve them together.

Why We Piloted with Mazao na Afya
While engaging with Mazao na Afya, one of Kenya’s largest agri-input distributors, we heard a challenge that kept coming up again and again:
Stockists often need to restock urgently during the rainy season or other peak periods, but their cash is tied up in stock they’ve already bought. On the flip side, distributors can’t always extend more credit without locking up their cash flow.
“We kept hearing this from stockists — they want to serve farmers on time, but their hands are tied by cash flow,” said Nancy Kinyanjui, Managing Director at Avenews Kenya.
“With Stockist Financing, we step in, pay the distributor immediately, and the stockist can restock right away. They repay us later, in line with their sales cycle. It’s that simple.”
For Mazao na Afya, this means they can focus on what they do best, making sure the right products are available for their stockists.
“More than 80% of our business depends on stockists,” said Peter Karanja, CEO of Mazao Group of Companies.
“With Avenews covering payments upfront, we no longer have to worry about tying up our working capital. We can keep the shelves stocked and the farmers supplied — it’s a win for everyone.”

Media Coverage from the Launch
The event generated plenty of buzz, with national and agricultural media houses capturing the day’s highlights and speaking with both management teams.

An Open Invitation to Distributors
While the pilot was with Mazao na Afya, Stockist Financing is open to any distributor or manufacturer in Kenya who wants to support their stockists to keep trading without cash flow limits.
As Nancy Kinyanjui puts it:
“We don’t just fund stock, we enable movement. This works anywhere there’s a trusted network of stockists, and we’re ready to partner with more distributors nationwide.”
