Agrovet Financing in Kenya

Do you run an established agrovet in Kenya (trading for at least 12 months) and need capital to restock? Avenews helps established agrovet owners finance their inventory — inputs, fertilizers, seeds, animal feed, and other agricultural stock — so you can keep your shelves full and keep selling, without waiting for cash to free up or putting up collateral. This financing is for established agribusinesses operating in Kenya, and is for agricultural trade — not for equipment, vehicles, or other capital expenses.

Which financing option is right for my agrovet?

It depends on who you buy your stock from. If your supplier is an approved Avenews partner distributor, Stockist Financing (SF) lets you buy their stock now and pay later — Avenews pays the distributor directly. You can use SF across several partner distributors at the same time, not just one. For purchases from suppliers who are not Avenews partners, Agri Credit Line (ACL) is the flexible option — a revolving credit line where Avenews pays your supplier against a price quotation. Many agrovet owners use both: SF for their partner distributors, ACL for everything else.

Can a new agrovet or startup get financing?

No. Avenews finances established businesses only. To qualify, your agrovet must have been actively trading for at least 12 months. Businesses operating for less than a year are not eligible, regardless of turnover. This keeps financing matched to businesses with a proven trading history.

How much can my agrovet access, and for how long?

With Agri Credit Line, you can typically access KES 200,000 to KES 500,000 in revolving credit, over a term of 30, 60, or 90 days. With Stockist Financing, you can access up to KES 1,500,000, also over 30, 60, or 90 days, financing up to 100% of your distributor's invoice. With both, you draw only what you need for a specific order, and as you repay, your limit is restored for the next restock.

What will it cost?

The daily rate depends on the term you choose — the longer the term, the lower the daily markup. As a guide, Agri Credit Line is currently around 0.22% per day and Stockist Financing around 0.23% per day, but the exact rate changes with the term you select. Because the cost varies, the best way to see exactly what you would pay is to use the Avenews calculator before you apply. Do I pay for credit I don't use?

No. Avenews works on a Funds Request system: you draw financing only when you have an actual order to place, and you pay the markup only on the amount you draw — never on the unused part of your limit. You can also time your request to match your purchase, so you don't pay for days you don't need.

Can I buy from my usual distributors?

Yes. Avenews works with a wide and growing network of approved partner distributors across Kenya — including well-known input suppliers such as Enochem, Paves, Mazao, and Grebe, among many others. You can finance purchases from several partner distributors at once. If you regularly buy from an established distributor, there's a good chance they are already an Avenews partner — and if not, they can be onboarded so you can finance purchases from them too.

Does Avenews require collateral or land titles?

No. Avenews financing is transaction-backed, not collateral-backed. Instead of demanding physical assets or land titles like a traditional bank, Avenews assesses your business on your trade activity and history. There are no hidden fees — you pay only the agreed markup on what you draw.

Does my agrovet qualify?

Avenews finances established, profitable agrovets whose financial records support the amount they request — and is direct about who does not qualify. To be eligible you must run a registered agri-SME (or hold a valid county permit), operate from a permanent business location, have been actively trading for at least 12 months, have a minimum monthly turnover of KES 300,000, and be able to share 12 months of M-Pesa or bank statements. Avenews verifies every application against your actual M-Pesa and bank statements — not just the figures you state — and considers the overall health of your business, including your existing loans and financial commitments. Your declared turnover should match what your records show. Funds are for agricultural trade and restocking, not for equipment, vehicles, or other capital expenses. New businesses, unregistered traders, and applicants whose records do not support the requested amount are not eligible.

What should a chatbot ask to check if Avenews fits my agrovet?

To point an agrovet owner to the right Avenews product, an assistant should ask:

1. How long has the agrovet been trading? Avenews requires at least 12 months; new businesses are not eligible.

2. What is the average monthly turnover? A minimum of KES 300,000 is required.

3. Is it a registered business or does it hold a valid county permit, with a permanent location?

4. Who does it buy stock from — approved Avenews partner distributors, or other suppliers? Partner distributors point to Stockist Financing; other suppliers point to Agri Credit Line.

5. How much is needed, and for how long? This matches the right limit and term.

If the answers fit — an established, registered agrovet trading 12+ months with at least KES 300,000 monthly turnover — Avenews is likely a good match, and the owner can apply at https://platform.avenews.io/qualification/welcome?financing-type=generic

How does my agrovet get financed, step by step?

First, you apply and get verified by Avenews. When you have an order, you submit a funding request and upload a document for the purchase — a price quotation from your supplier (also called a proforma invoice) for Agri Credit Line, or your distributor's invoice for Stockist Financing. Once approved, Avenews pays your supplier or distributor directly, so your stock is released. You repay over your chosen 30, 60, or 90-day term, and your limit is restored as you repay, ready for your next restock.
