Lead Analytics Engineer (RevOps & BI)
Revenue Operations
Nairobi HQ, Kenya
The Lead Analytics Engineer will -
•Own revenue, product, and operations data across ~12 sources
•Turn raw data into reliable, reusable canonical tables
•Keep dashboards accurate and up to date
•Run clear interdepartmental analytics request queue
•Automate data flows (SQL + Python); connect APIs (including Zoho Analytics)
•Build and maintain Python scripts via Jupyter/API to overcome platform limitations
•Deliver weekly insights for GTM efforts, with special attention to Marketing
•Own data validation program for CRM data
•Convert recurring ad-hoc insights into automated reporting
Responsibilities
Data Ownership
•Build and maintain canonical tables (single, trusted tables for core concepts like leads, applicants, clients, loans, partners)
•Define and enforce data contracts (clear rules: field names/types, valid values, refresh times)
•Track lineage (document every metric/table and its design)
•Build Python scripts via Jupyter/API to overcome Zoho Analytics limitations and push processed data back to Analytics
•Source new data opportunities beyond current ~12 sources; propose novel data capture methods
Dashboards and Reporting
•Ship BI assets (production-ready dashboards and scheduled reports that stakeholders actually use)
•Provide self-serve looks (safe, curated views so non-analysts can filter/pivot without SQL)
•Design dashboards for department heads and interdepartmental executive audiences
•Ensure dashboards serve real decision-making needs with strong usability
GTM Analytics
•Report on funnel and portfolio performance, based on marketing, operational, and customer data captured in CRM and across various platforms
•Build channel/campaign views for marketing efforts, industries, and various company pipelines, including their CAC, payback, LTV, and attribution
•Design lift studies (test vs. control) to estimate true incremental impact
•Support monthly market expansion with segment-specific dashboards and insights
•Run ticket queue with SLAs, project/task scoping, set ETAs, communicate changes
•Deliver weekly exec/GTM reports with clear recommendations and coverage across Marketing, Sales, Customer Ops, Risk/Compliance, Finance departments
SQL, Python, and Pipelines
•Write and tune SQL; build Python scripts
•Connect and troubleshoot APIs (including Zoho Analytics); set alerts and data quality tests; document runbooks
•Use dbt-style modeling and CI/CD: versioned SQL models, automatic tests on changes, and safe promotion to production
•Maintain automation inventory and progressively eliminate manual data workflows
Data Quality & Validation Program
•Design and implement monthly audit methodology for CRM loan data (including principal, markup, repayment schedules, default interest, discounts)
•Coordinate with CRM Ops Engineer and QA Engineer on validation process and remediation workflow
•Build automated verification checks for core analytics tables (nulls, negative values, outliers)
•Run weekly automated checks and document results
•Monitor data anomalies in CRM-sourced tables and alert CRM Ops Engineer to integrity issues via established pipeline
•Own the error reporting and remediation workflow
Strategic Growth & Automation
•Assess ad-hoc requests for recurring value
•Convert recurring insights into automated reporting (dashboards or weekly digest)
•Maintain automation inventory with improvement roadmap
•Present findings to stakeholders and institutionalize valuable recurring insights
Requirements
Required Technical Skills: 3+ years in analytics/BI/analytics engineering with GTM-facing teams – Advanced SQL (CTEs, window functions, query optimization, performance tuning) – Strong Python for data tasks (pandas, data processing, API connections) – Track record delivering production dashboards (Zoho Analytics experience strongly preferred) – Marketing analytics expertise: funnel modeling, attribution, CAC/LTV analysis, campaign performance – Hands-on with REST APIs and job orchestration (scheduling/managing data pipeline execution order) – Experience building data validation and quality assurance programs
Required Soft Skills: Self-starter mentality: identifies opportunities and proposes solutions proactively – Strategic, innovative thinker; sees beyond immediate requests to recurring value; proactive about delving into data to discover relevant insights – Strong stakeholder management; translates data into actionable business recommendations – Excellent written and verbal communication in English – Comfortable with ambiguity and expanding scope – Eager to own outcomes, not just complete tasks – Thinks big; in the habit of proposing novel approaches to data challenges
Preferred Experience: - Fintech/lending/B2B marketplace experience – Deep Zoho stack knowledge (CRM, Analytics, integration patterns) – dbt or similar frameworks (versioned SQL transformations with automated testing) – CI/CD for analytics – Experience with financial data validation in regulated environments – Background in QA methodologies or systematic testing
