Movement to a paperless office
The move away from paper is not exclusive to the agriculture industry – in fact, predictions of paper offices date back to the 1970's.
While that prediction did not hold true between 1980-2000 (paper use actually doubled over these two decades), since 2000 it has been on the decline.
Limiting paper use is another key component of sustainability, and as such, is something farmers and cooperatives are both taking active steps towards. Not only this, but going paperless can also improve productivity, as digital tools allow information to be stored, accessed and manipulated more rapidly.
With studies showing that 80% of paper documents get filed and never looked at again, the benefits from digitizing the office is clear.
In developing agricultural markets, this digital revolution is just beginning, with early movers already seeing a great advantage.
